**Exclusive 2013 Interview** with SoSanAntone…must read!!!

BigTmusic.com recently caught up with one of San Antonio’s hottest rappers, SoSanAntone, aka SoS.A. for an exclusive interview.  He told us about his up and coming and projects, and shed some light on possible beef out there in the Tone streets.  Check out what he had to say!

BigTmusic.com:   First and foremost, SoSanAntone, we want to congratulate you, Jay Lee and Cocked-n-Locked with the successes of all the music and products y’all been flooding the streets with.   With that being said, how has life been treating you as an artist?
SoSanAntone:  Thanks, G.  Like a king.  Life as I know it, is great.  I can’t complain or ask for anything more than what’s going on right now.

BigTmusic.com:    Cool.  Texas has had much success out of Houston and Dallas.  Not many people outside of the state know San Antonio has talent other than the Spurs.  Do you think you have what it takes to put the city on the map on a national scale?
SoSanAntone:  I really think more than that, I think it takes what I got for the city to get put on the map nationally in my opinion, but the city does have a lot of talented artist and that’s all we need is one shot to show the nation what we have down here.

BigTmusic.com:   We’ve see that you posted many videos on YouTube really showing that not many are messing with you on the videos.   The themes for your videos are usually cutting edge for a local artist.  How does Cocked-n-Locked have the ability to get videos of this magnitude pulled off for you?
SoSanAntone:  Just knowing the right people and creating new visions and pushing the envelope on everything that we do.  The people that we work with are also cutting edge themselves and want to see more than just the usual visuals that everyone else is used to seeing.

BigTmusic.com:   That’s what it is.  Are there any songs in the past you wish you shot videos for?
SoSanAntone:  I’ve had request for a lot of vids done to a lot of songs, but the ones we’ve done visuals to are mostly the ones we hand picked and knew we could do some different dope shit to.

BigTmusic.com:   What do you think your biggest song to date is?
SoSanAntone:  My biggest song to date I would have to say is Fiona. Everyone who approaches me whether they smoke or not has something to say about that song and video.

BigTmusic.com:   Is there a song that you’ve done that you think may have been over looked or underrated?
SoSanAntone:  I can’t really say that I’ve had a song that was overlooked or underrated at all.  I think all my body of work was purchased or receive the same, every time I drop something.

BigTmusic.com:   What song have you done that actually had way more success than you originally planned?
SoSanAntone:
Fiona.  I never thought I would have a smoke song that would go down in SA History.

BigTmusic.com:  Are there any major commercial artist you plan on collaborating with, or want to collaborate with in the future?
SoSanAntone:  Not at the moment, but if any commercial artist hears me and wants to collab wit SoSanAntone, then I’m all for it.

BigTmusic.com:  On to your latest project, LateNightEarlyMornings.  That’s a unique title, all the way down to it’s spelling.  Tell everybody what they are in for.
SoSanAntone:  I never tend to shy away from spittin’ and story telling.  I pretty much went in on this project talking about the hard work that goes into what I do and the little amount of sleep I get doing it, lol.  But they can expect the same SoSanAntone, just a different twist then what they used to hearing on the Topic of Discussion’s.

BigTmusic.com:   What made you choose We Gon as a single?
SoSanAntone:  It’s really not a single.  It’s just the first leaked track. I decided to leak that one for the ladies first since we are always dropping street shit.  Thought they would love that one as a first leak.

BigTmusic.com:   Our favorite track from the new mixtape, LateNightEarlyMornings, is a joint called Rare.  You killed that homie!  Are there any tracks that you would consider your favorite?
SoSanAntone:  My favorite would have to be Fuck Tonight.  Touched on some serious shit that I know my niggas and they girl go thru.  Think everyone would be able to relate.  I also enjoy listening to a track I did on there called Any Other Way.  Just the zone I was in writin’ and recording.  It was that type of energy I think the people love about me, and I think it shows in the lyrics and the delivery.

BigTmusic.com:  Nice.  Who are some of the producers you’ve been working with on your projects?
SoSanAntone:  I worked wit Killian Beatz, Severe, Pooh, Ron Hawk and Chefboi, all talented producers here in the Tone.

BigTmusic.com:  Cool, cool.  For years, you’ve been really shining on features.  We listed some of our favorites below.  What is your thought process when you get a feature offer?  Do you enjoy doing them?
SoSanAntone:   I love showcasing my skills any kind of way possible.  I am grateful to know someone else wants me to feature on their project.  Let’s me know they fuck with the flow.

BigTmusic.com:  What does a normal studio session with SoSanAntone consist of?
SoSanAntone:  Hennessy, Fiona, and good vibes.  Everything else just seems to fall into place.

BigTmusic.com:  Are you a Pro Tools artist, or do you prefer other software?
SoSanAntone:  I fuck wit Pro Tools, but it’s not the software, it’s who’s controlling that software. I can get behind a mic and bust to anything.  If the engineer knows what he’s doing, then I’m all good.

BigTmusic.com:   Off the topic of music for a minute.  We see your J’s game is out of control.  What J’s don’t you have that you still need in your life?
SoSanAntone:  Well I only do retro’s, #’s 3-15.  I pretty much got all the ones I need, but if any other color scheme comes out that I like, then I snatch …. but you can always catch me J’d up … lol.

1175717_514675051940210_169084805_nBigTmusic.com:   We know that you have a lot of ink, and there is a pic floating around the internet with you and a new tatt across your chest.  What was your motivation behind the new ink work?
SoSanAntone:  My new tattoo is just simply solidifying me as a San Antonio native.  If I ain’t SoSanAntone then wudda you call that?…. lol

BigTmusic.com:  We see you have a few #hashtag campaigns going on online.   How many do you have, and how exactly do you come up with them?
SoSanAntone: I got a couple, and I come up wit them on how I’m feeling when I’m posting something to social media: #howyoulivin #wayoflife #everythangaboutme #FucEm etc.

BigTmusic.com:   Alright SoSanAntone, everyone knows there are a lot of rappers out there sneak dissing.  The streets want to know, is there any beef with you or any other artist out there?
SoSanAntone:  I don’t do the beef.  Pretty much everyone knows my number, they can call if they have a problem.  I don’t do the back and forth on the record to get anyone else shine.  I refuse, but me personally, I don’t have a beef with anyone.

BigTmusic.com:   Ok Sos, the question everyone wants to know the answer: Is there any tension between you and Famous aka Lil Ken?
SoSanAntone:  There’s no tension at all wit me and the dude.  He does what he does and I do what I do.

BigTmusic.com:  We see you’ve been posting a lot of comments online and being interactive with fans.  How does it feel for you to have direct access to your fans and be able to interact directly with them?
SoSanAntone:  It’s a plus for me outside the city.  I feel it’s great that they can talk and chat wit the person they riding to, smoking to, fucking to, etc. … Inside the city is great also, but we have a couple of shops where they can come and see me personally and have that face to face with their favorite artist.

BigTmusic.com:   That’s what’s up.  We know you been doing this rap thing since the late 90’s, early 2000’s.   What are some of the things you have learned along the way?
SoSanAntone:  Trust yourself first.  Never put your career in another person’s hands.

BigTmusic.com:   Speaking of the 90’s.  We’ve came across a few tracks with you spitting back in 1999.   We can’t lie, you’ve been veeeerrrryyy consistent in your talent, even 14 years later.    How old were you when you realized you could really spit?
SoSanAntone:  Thanks for the compliment, but since I first came out the womb I knew this is what I wanted to do.

BigTmusic.com:   Alright.  Last question, what can we expect from SoSanAntone and Cocked-n-Locked for the future?
SoSanAntone:  Same thang we been doing.  Strategy, great music, and steady grindin’!

BigTmusic.com:   SoSanAntone, we appreciate the interview.   Keep doing what you do!  Any last shout outs?
SoSanAntone:  Thanks, and you keep doing what you do.  I just would like to shout out my city of San Antonio!
