Hailing from Liberty City out of Miami is the rap duo, The Stepsisters. Comprised of Nenah Blaque and Mona Vinci, these sistas aren’t sisters in the traditional sense, but their chemistry and musical synergy would have you think otherwise.
I had the opportunity to listen to their debut EP “40’s & Jumpsuits” and it’s really good. On “Dope Bitch” (produced by Freeway Tjay), the femcees flex their muscles fluidly and with effortless ease on a bass laced beat with a dark sound. The synths almost give you a sense of being in a classic horror movie. From a Miami point of view though, the girls paint a vivid picture of the hustler’s way…
The beat has that inescapable head nod factor to it and the chorus is super catchy. Even though the song isn’t super lyrical it still does what it was intended to do. The song is also accompanied by a dope video with crisp visuals thanks to Cinema Pictures that can be seen below. Bottom line these girls are here to stay and mean business. I will mos def keep my eye out for their next release.
